Data Visualization the Ultimate Level: Video production. Parts 1 and 2 Ever wondered how to turn your dry, boring, static data images into rich videos presentations? Ever wonder how to tell the full story of your research in a way today’s world can appreciate it. Ever wonder how major movie studios brings all the acting, visual effects, and audio together, edit them, color correct them, add rich titles, captions, sound tracts and sound effects, and well anything you could possibly imagine and so much more. Ever wonder how to do all this yourself using the exact same software they use and it’s all FREE? Well then be prepared to amaze the world with your data/research story like never before! In this two-part series we will learn how to take your data and research from static images with no life or story and turn them into rich videos telling the story you have always wanted to tell about your work. To do this we will explore Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve, a free application used by most every studio and VFX house in the world to produce the shows you love to watch. We will discuss how to create the animations from a series of still images (called plates) and turn them into a fully rendered animation. How to add other animations and movies, titles, and effects to move from a simple series of 2D images to something worthy for world broadcast. Yes, and all in only two workshops, it’s really that easy. And yet you can spend decades as a professional in Resolve and never come close to knowing its full depths! Who is this workshop for: Anybody that wants to expand beyond the bounds of static 2D images or canned animations to share their story in rich vibrant professional videos to share with everyone. What will I walk away with: By the end of these two sessions you will be able to take images, static 2D or animation plates, combine them with other media assets to create a full video with titles, credits, audio, captioning, a quick introduction to editing and color grading and then rendering your work out to a YouTube ready or other format, video. Bonus Session: There is a third session called ‘Data Visualization the Ultimate Level: Follow Up Clinic’ where I’ll be available to help answer questions from the workshop, how to work with your data or anything else related to this topic. Prerequisites: The free version of Blackmagic’s DaVinci Resolve (https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/) installed and ready to go. For people enrolled I will send them a How-to video link on how to download, install and prepare yourself for the wonderful world of Resolve. No need to fret on all hardware you see as you scroll down the above page. You can do all that the hardware does with ease without them! I may bring in some of mine, the portable ones anyways, to show you how the pro’s work but will not use them for the workshop. A computer or a laptop. The more memory and better the graphics card the better but I have actually ran Resolve on my puny, older Windows Surface.
