Community is so important during this uncertain time, but can be difficult with so many students and instructors working remotely. Even under such trying circumstances, community starts with presence. There are ways to be present and engaged with a community without being in the same room. In this workshop, we explore a series of interrelated questions: How can I present myself to students, online or in person, in a positive manner? How can I encourage students to be present in class, or at least to engage course material independently? How can I encourage students to be present with themselves, with their work, and with each other?
