Failure in Higher Ed: An ICoP Community Meeting
In Fall 2020, Blair Young and Jacie Moriyama from ASSETT hosted an ICoP community meeting on failure in higher ed, exploring topics ranging from risk-taking, institutional safety nets, and failing without failing students. In this follow-up session, participants will focus on designing safe spaces for productive failure in a higher ed environment and supporting our own and our students’ comfort with failing and rising from failure. Attendance at the first session is not a requirement to participate in this session.
Inclusive Community of Practice (ICoP) meetings connect equity-minded folks around campus to develop inclusive practices and policies in the classroom through sharing and curation of existing and collaboratively innovated knowledge. Weekly 75-minute meetings provide opportunities where faculty, staff and students gather to network and talk openly about diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice. These conversations are meant to be brave spaces where faculty, staff and students can work on developing inclusive practices for the classroom.
