In this workshop, participants will discuss how to address some common challenges that international instructors face when teaching in the United States. Teaching in a different academic system requires a good understanding of the language, pedagogy, and culture to which students are accustomed. We will offer strategies to improve communication, rapport, and instructional practices that can improve the educational experience for both students and instructors.

When

Climate change and COVID have scientists interacting with the public like never before. With scientists playing a dual role as advocates in legislation, public health, and awareness, questions may arise if advocacy is a role scientists should take on. Come join this panel of experts who meld their scientific work with advocacy. This event is open to all, and free to join.

This panel is hosted by Em Nocito, Graduate Liaison for the Natural Sciences and PhD Student in Environmental Studies.

Parents who choose to pursue an advanced degree face a unique set of challenges and require a unique set of circumstances in order to thrive. These recurring chats will give busy Buff Parents a chance to connect, to discuss what kinds of support they could use for professional development, and to build community across disciplines. Bring your lunch, pictures of your kids, and any suggestions you might have about how the Graduate School can better serve your specific needs as a parent and student. Postdocs are also welcome.
