The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs and Graduate School invite postdocs and graduate students to learn how to review NSF solicitations and write winning NSF proposals.

Diane Carillo, the proposal writer in the Research & Innovation Office (RIO), will walk through how to analyze NSF guidelines and will share key strategies for developing quality, competitive, fundable proposals. Attendees will be provided with a sample NSF solicitation for marking up and time will be allotted for Q&A. Advance questions are welcome at opa@colorado.edu.

Looking for a job outside of academia? In this interactive workshop, you'll be introduced to interviewing technique that will help you feel prepared and confident for your industry interviews. Learn how to provide information for the 3 basic questions all hiring managers need to answer. Learn to ask questions that get at what you really need to know and presents you as the professional you are. Open to all graduate students and postdocs. 

Does the thought of interviewing leave you nervous and apprehensive? In this interactive workshop learn how to prepare for and answer common interview questions, identify common U.S. cultural norms when interviewing, and how to practice for an interview so that you'll feel confident entering the job market as an international student or postdoc. 

Whether you are writing your first CV or tailoring your existing CV for the job market, this 60-minute session will help you format your document, decide what to include and emphasize, and offer some suggestions for writing about your experience in ways that show your qualifications and skills to best effect. We will go over the 8 headings that start a typical CV as well as explore edge cases. We will discuss how to tailor your CV to a given posting.

We will discuss specific ways you can make your resume stand out to employers and get your documents working for you rather than against you in your non-academic job search.

This workshop is led by Alaina Nickerson from Career Services to learn about the differences between an academic CV and an industry resume.

The Office of Postdoctoral Affairs is excited to kick off National Postdoc Appreciation Week (NPAW) with a lunch recognizing CU Boulder postdocs and postdoc mentors.

Awards will be issued for Outstanding Postdocs and Outstanding Postdoc Mentors during the luncheon. The PAC Boulder, the volunteer group of postdocs on campus, will also recognize recent winners of its Travel Award program.

Networking is a key skill when looking for a job or internship in the U.S. In this interactive workshop, learn various techniques for starting professional relationships. You will generate a list of people you can connect with today and build a strategy that works for you uniquely in your job search as an international student or postdoc. Open to all undergraduates, graduate students, and postdocs.
